Backcountry Gear Rental

Rent specialized equipment designed for backcountry terrain, including skis with touring bindings and splitboards.

We provide a full range of gear for snow travel, from avalanche safety equipment - such as beacons, probes, and shovels - to crampons and snowshoes.

Usage Guidelines

Required Documents: Please upload a copy of your identification document when making a reservation.

Advance Payment: Rental items are limited in quantity, so reservations are accepted with advance payment.

After reviewing your application, we will send you a payment link by email within two business days.

Your reservation will be confirmed once payment has been received.

Important Notes Before Renting: During the season, certain models or sizes may be unavailable depending on rental availability.

Rental Period

Rental Period (20256-2027 Season): Early December 2026 (tentative) – April 30, 2027 (Fri)

※ Please visit the store at your reserved time.

※ Use within the above time frame will be charged as a one-day rental.

Rental Period Example

Return Method: You may choose from the following return methods for your rental items:

- In-store return during business hours
- After-hours return via the return box
- Return by delivery via Yamato Transport: additional shipping fee of ¥4,800

Main Gear Specifications

For users renting touring skis or splitboards, please check the specifications for the skis/boards, bindings, and boots.

Avalanche gear such as beacons, probes, and shovels is also available separately.

Touring Ski Specifications

Skis (with climbing skins): - Center width: 96 mm–112 mm
- Length: 162 cm–187 cm

Bindings: You may choose either “pin bindings” or “frame bindings.”

Compatible with tech/pin boots only

▼ Frame Bindings:
Compatible with both tech/pin boots and alpine boots

※ If you are bringing your own boots, please choose bindings that are compatible with your boots.

Boots: Tech boots or alpine boots are available.

Splitboard Specifications

Board (with climbing skins): Length: 146 cm–164 cm

Bindings: K2 Far Out with heel lock function

Boots: Dial-type BOA soft boots

※ Walk-mode boots and hard boots are not available.

Rental Rates | 2026–2027 Season

During the season, certain models or sizes may be temporarily unavailable depending on rental availability. We appreciate your understanding.

Rental Process

[ 1 ] Make a Reservation: Please make a reservation in advance through the reservation page.

Customers with reservations will be given priority on the day of use.

[ 2 ] Gear Selection and Availability Check: Our staff will select gear based on the size information you entered.

We will contact you by email within two business days regarding availability.

[ 3 ] Advance Payment: Once your rental items have been confirmed, we will send you a payment link by email.

After payment is completed, your rental items will be set aside and your reservation will be officially confirmed.

[ 4 ] Receive Your Gear: Please visit SOTORENT Zenibako Store at your reserved date and time.

If you would like to pick up your items at another store, please contact us in advance.

Backcountry gear will be handed over after we explain the usage instructions and precautions in person.

For this reason, delivery is not available.

[ 5 ] Return After Use: In addition to returning your items to SOTORENT Zenibako Store, where you picked them up, you may also return them to another store or by delivery.

※ Please select your preferred return method when making a reservation.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation Changes and Cancellations

If you would like to change or cancel your reservation, please contact SOTORENT Zenibako Store during business hours.

For inquiries by email, the date we receive your email will be treated as the acceptance date.

After reviewing your request, we will reply within two business days.

For cancellations, we will refund the amount after deducting the online payment processing fee, which is 4.5% of the payment amount.

Please note that this processing fee will be borne by the customer. Thank you for your understanding.

Cancellation Fees

5 to 2 days before the date of use:: 30% of the total fee

1 day before the date of use:: 50% of the total fee

On the date of use:: 100% of the total fee

Make a Reservation

Please reserve your store visit date and time in advance, and visit the store at your reserved time on the day of use.

After your reservation, we will send you an email within two business days regarding gear selection and availability. Please review the details and reply to the email.

After that, your reservation will be officially confirmed and your rental items will be secured once payment has been completed.
